**TIP!   For a simpler attachment in low pressure systems, try 1 metre of the Translucent Silicone Hose shown below (SP20). This will stretch to make good seals to both ports and will then slide over a 10mm copper pipe in your circuit . Standard plumbing solutions can be used to step up to 15mm if necessary

This food-quality tube is both strong and flexible, so can be made to stretch over both ports of the SP14/10 pump (Translucent is probably best for this as it is more stretchy). It is also ideal for attaching to the SP20/20 pumps using the black connector nuts shown above (SP199)

The Translucent tube is the home brewers favourite, also 12mm OD but has a larger internal bore of 8mm and 2mm thick walls. This has the joint benefits of reduced flow resistance and visibility to identify air bubbles or dirt. For this reason it is also our favourite for unpressurised solar circulation. It is Platinum Cured non yellowing Silicone,

Live data can be uploaded straight in to MS Excel to create dynamically updated graphing or is easily copied and pasted into other programs for analysis if required.

The format, frequency and actual data uploaded can be programmed to your requirement at no extra charge.

In the first example, the chip has been programmed to record the max and min temperatures since the circuit was reset last. Data is sent to a free terminal program on the PC.

In the second photo the Collector and Tank temperatures have been sent to Microsoft Excel over four days and the graphical display updates dynamically as the data is received.

This can be useful when setting a system up where you are unable to monitor the data during the day or are concerned about frost risk at night.

The output can be customised if specific formats or labels are preferred.

3-port valve

12 Volt DC Three Port Motorised Valve £49.95

Typically used to switch a flow direction to a second tank or heat-dump to control overheating in solar thermal systems. Also suitable for horticultural irrigation systems, under-floor heating, rainwater harvesting or any low voltage plumbing application.

  • Two Wire solution.
  • 12Volt DC operation at very low current (<3 watts while switching)
  • Zero current drain in default state, 0.25 of a watt actuated
  • Diverts flow when two wires are given 12V feed
  • Returns to default position when powered off

We sometimes get asked if you can make your own controller. We reckon this circuit is probably the simplest possible control circuit that will work, so if cost, loneliness or enthusiasm drives you towards making your own Temperature Differential Controller, consider this option ;-).

nb This is not the circuit used in the above controllers and is offered as a service to the electronic enthusiast. Whilst it certainly works, performance in my own tests has not been completely satisfactory. It is NOT recommended to people without some prior electronics assembly experience.

The circuit used in the SP100 controller is entirely different and far more technically advanced.
